  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor

I'm more then a little annoyed.

The Roswell City Council voted on and passed a 6.2 MILLION DOLLAR capital improvement motion that was presented at 10pm at last night's city council meeting.  I admit I wasn't there, but then neither were most of the people that attended the meeting, believing nothing so EXPENSIVE would be presented in the last hour of the city council meeting.  Who are these people that present a proposal at 10pm for a vote that will occur 1 hour later?  Mentioned by a concerned citizen in the Opinion section of the Roswell Neighbor, Mayor Jere Wood asked for a deferment of the vote on this VERY LARGE sum of money due to the lack of time available to discuss and review.  The council chose not to delay even among strong objection from the remaining citizens.  Read the Roswell Neighbor and then email (or call if you have their number) your city council, let them know how you feel.

Rich Dippolito - rdippolito@roswellgov.com  (up for re-election in November)

Becky Wynn - bwynn@roswellgov.com (up for re-election in November)

Betty Price - bprice@roswellgov.com  - the only council person to vote against the 6.2 million improvement plan

Kent Igleheart - kigleheart@roswellgov.com - must read Lee Fleck's editorial - something about Mr. Igleheart inferring that a referendum on Sunday liquor sales would attract uneducated citizens to the polls who might vote against an additional millage rate increase.  (Additional!  Mayor Wood and Betty Price want to reduce the millage rate to help taxpayers - that wasn't passed by this council).

Jerry Orlans - jorlans@roswellgov.com  - responsible for assembling the capital projects and argued there had already been enough discussion.

Nancy Diamond - ndiamond@roswellgov.com

Not sure if a call to Lisa Hines, Executive Assistant to City Council, may also be in order.  Was only given the City Hall number 770-641-3757
