Recent Crime Sparks Neighborhood Watch Interest

In the beginning of November, crime once again struck the neighborhood. A few cars were tampered with and one was broken into, and some items were stolen.

As a result of this incident, Jocelyn Holland, our new co-president, invited the deputy from the Clark County Sheriff's Department to speak to us about the recent crime and also update us on how we can start a neighborhood watch.

The deputy spoke about mailbox security and suggested that we take our mail to the post office, as even the "block mailboxes" are not immune to theft.

The deputy also advised us to make sure that we do not leave ANY items in our car within view, because this would just prompt someone to want to have what is in it.

The holiday's are coming and it is dark a lot longer. With this combination, it is very important to be aware of who is in your neighborhood. Please keep a watchful eye out, and try to start a neighborhood watch within your own couple of blocks.

The Clark County Sheriff's Department will assist you in beginning your program by calling 397-6008, extension 5417.
