Now in its 6th year, The Denver Foundation's Strengthening Neighborhoods Program (SNP)continues its partnership with the Globeville neighborhood. Providing small grants that support resident-conceived and resident-led projects from mural painting projects to community organizing efforts to multi-cultural festivals, SNP strives to work with residents to help them use the strengths and assets already present in their community to make the neighborhood a better place to live.
The 2002 Globeville grants are as follows:
Globeville Community Garden Project - $500 to plan a community garden on 50th & Lincoln Street
Globeville Civic Association - $500 to plan a collaborative fall harvest project between Garden Place Academy and the Globeville Civic Association
Globeville Community Justice Council - $500 to plan and $2,500 to support ongoing ESL classes by and for monolingual Spanish-speaking neighborhood residents
Globeville Community Justice Council - $2,050 to support the Leadership Art Forum
Garden Place Academy - $4,918 to support the school’s community-wide 100th Anniversary celebration
Globeville Community Justice Council - $4,500 to support the 2002 Annual Globeville Community Day - a large summer gathering of residents businesses, nonprofit organizations, police, and service providers
Cross Community Coalition Family Center - $2,400 to support the Youth Arts Enrichment Program
Garden Place Academy Parent Organizing Committee - $2,200 to support yearlong activities to engage parents in the school
