3-1-1 is a simple, easy-to-remember telephone number which connects citizens with City customer service representatives who can handle your non-emergency calls and requests for City services. The number is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The representative can answer questions or take your service request and immediately forward it to the appropriate City department for action. The 3-1-1 customer service representatives use a shared database to process requests directly. This speeds us calls and eliminates phone transfers.

9-1-1 receives millions of calls. Most are emergencies, but many are not. 3-1-1 can reduce the number of non-emergency calls to 9-1-1, thus allowing the City's emergency personnel to focus on critical and urgent calls.
