Target

Yes to Target.....

I love the idea of a Target out there...better out there than closer to us (corner of Sawmill Pkwy and Powell Rd-who knows...). Great income for us with respect to the taxes. An easier drive than the Sawmill/270 traffic mess. A good, stable company that is unlikely to go under in a couple of years (leaving a vacant eyesore). Yes a bit more traffic, otherwise, what's the downside?
Downside

I don't want it here. More traffic and the problems that go with it. If I want to shop, I'll drive over on 23 and hit Walmart.

I'll vote YES on a school levy and would pay higher taxes to keep the schools at a high level any day.

If you want to shop, move over to Lewis Center. They have all kinds of shopping over there and it's just a few miles away.

Downside is right

Think of the big picture. Target may offer some small benefit, however people move to Powell because it is what it is. No big box, just a country like setting with good schools. The tax revenue from Target would be insignificant to the big picture. Property values kept high is a huge benefit for all of us. The taxes here are lower than those in Dublin. They have their share of big stores etc...

Remember that Morse road and 161 developed with the mall etc...Now probably the highest crime rate in Columbus. Then look at Arlington and Bexly. Still the highest property value in Columbus.

The oversight committee is doing the right thing by keeping all this in perspective.

I liked the comment about having everything you need with in a short driving distance of this area.

Most of the people moved to this area for what it was intended to be.

Don't start changing that now.
