9/11/2007 Meeting Minutes

Sep 17, 2007

Moment of Silence - We had a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims and families of 9/11.

Flaherty Road Race - Karen Nolan gave an update on the road race to support Flaherty School which was on Saturday Sept. 16th. Thanks Karen!

Town Council - David Cushing asked that neighbors sign his papers to support him in running for town council. Also, Regina Norton asked that neighbors sign her papers for her to run for Town Council.

Signs - Discussion of the signage directing people to use alternate routes when going to the highway etc. Eliminating the need for people to pass through the neighborhood.

Drugs- One of the neighbors states that there is still activity around 34 Calvin Street. Susan Buckley states that there is activity in front of her house due to the darkness of the street and the trees covering the street lights. Eileen Campbell will be calling the town to see about cutting the trees back. Susan was directed to call the BPD to report any suspicious activity and to give her name when calling. Also Susan states that she would be willing to have police in her driveway to monitor activity.

Ridge - Ridge the owner of the cemetary is applying for permits to remove the restrictions on the wetlands behind the neighbors on Brierwood. The area is behind the movie theater. The neighbors are concerned about what Ridge wants to do with the land. There will be a walk through of the land by the conservation committee and neighbors that are interested in going on that walk through can. The time of the walk through is still to be determined more information will be forthcoming. There will be a town meeting regarding this on October 4th at 7:30. Duane Keegan (thanks for doing this!)did research and found that if we get a good turnout and he can get a least 10 signatures that night we will have the right to appeal this permit to the State level. This appeal would allow us to get a 3rd party to come in and investigate to in fact see if Ridge has the right to reclassify this land and remove the wetland restrictions. It is very important that neighbors try and make this meeting on October 4th to support the conservation land sign the petition and stop the permit submission. Please try and make it.

Meet Joe Sullivan - There was a coffee hour with Mayoral Candidate Joe Sullivan at Bruce and Christine Tobin's house on Sept. 13th. Neighbors were invited to meet the candiate and ask questions. Thanks to Bruce and Christine for setting this up and welcoming all the neighbors into there home for this informative meeting.

Debate - League of Women Voters will hold a Mayoral Debate on Oct 21st. If you need a ride or would like to volunteer to drive neighbors to the debate please contact Eileen Campbell (781)849-1220.

Block Party - It was decided to wait and have another Block Party in the Summer 2008. People are too busy this Fall with sports etc to do it in the Fall.

Messina - Messina withdrew his permit to clear the land next to where the daycare is being build on Granite Street. The withdrawal was without prejudice which means he can re-apply at anytime for another permit.

Paper Road - The Repetta Family Came to the meeting with their Lawyer Margaret Cronin to answer questions on the summons that neighbors received to remove the paper street (Burdock Road). The Repetta's purchase the land 10 years ago from Mr. Livoli they own a double lot (A and C) B is the paper road. The Repetta's are seeking to remove the paper road so they can build a single family home. They do not have the land they need on lots A or C so they need to have B the paper road removed to build the house. The town doesn't want the road and the Repetta's were deeded the lot C when they purchased lots A and B. The neighbors were upset at the way the Repetta's went about serving everyone papers with mortgage info etc. The Repetta's apologized for the way that it was done. The Repetta?’s stated that they were unaware of the GPA. They want to be good neighbors and would have done this all differently if they had known about the association. The neighbors asked if they would be seeking to run a business or re-zone the land for business and they said that they would not during the meeting. However after further research it appears that the Repetta's are in fact running a Home Improvement Business from this location (33 Granite St) as discovered by one of the neighbors therefore there are letter's petitioning the removal of the paper street that need to be signed by all the neighbors that were served papers (thank you John Hardiman and Barbara Ross for getting those letters together and coming door to door with them to let the neighbors know what was going on). Please contact John Hardiman or Barbara Ross if you were served papers but did not get to sign the letters of petition. They need to be submitted by Sept. 20th.

GPA Nominations/Elections - We discussed having people think about if they would like to be part of the GPA officers or executive board. Eileen will be stepping down but would still like to be involved in executive board. Rob Parsons will stay involved if nominated but would like others to think about getting involved. Kay Conolly will stay on as treasurer. Christine Hagar will stay on if nominated. Think about it, we will have nominations and voting at the next GPA meeting on November 27th at 7:00 at the Thayer Public Library.

Reminder to all the neighbors to PLEASE VOTE preliminary on September 25th, November 6th Election Day

Next GPA Meeting is on Tuesday November 27th at 7:00 PM at the Thayer Public Library
