Question: Why would the city have the streets paved without first looking at the drainage issues in the neighborhood. The streets are already higher than some driveways and yards, then add more paving, you get more water. Some of the driveways have/had culverts but the majority of them are filled with silt. At times one driveway has a culvert and the next one does not. Why would this money be spent to pave the road and add more water to the residents yards/properties? When in fact, we are the ones paying to have this done. Just does not compute.

Its sort of like the salt/snow removers that are hired, normally they either don't come out or its well after most of the residents that work have already left their home.
Awaiting answer. Thank You

RESPONSE FROM G-D PUBLIC WORKS:

The streets have been milled (ground down) before the asphalt is applied. They are no higher than before. We need to keep our streets and other infrastructures in good condition. We have a multi-year plan for the street maintenance. Other issues are addressed as they arise.

Drainage problems are separate and complex. Please identify the locations of the problems. Contact the city office (429-0834) or me (426-2681), and we will work with MSD to address specific issues. The city has very little control how people install or maintain their driveways. Yes, sometimes poor installations can affect the drainage flow. We?’ll try to encourage individual homeowners to correct problems they may have caused.

We?’re unaware of any problems with salt application. Please contact me with specifics.
