The Problem Of Speeding

Posted in: Graymoor-Devondale
I suggest a three phase program to address the speeding and stop sign problem. Basically,it consists of:
1) awareness
2) signage
3) enforcement
AWARENESS - Borrow or rent a mobile radar unit that displays speed in real-time. Some, but certainly not all,of the offenders simply are not concentrating on the speed that they are travelling. Bad habits, with no consequences, result in continued offenses. Mobile cameras that are conspicous, can be placed at stop signs - on a rotating basis -to further enhance awareness of traffic regulations.
SIGNAGE - All entrances to our city should have speed limit signs as well as departure routes from schools and nursing homes.
ENFORCEMENT - After exposure to the radar unit and cameras - possibly a few days - launch a concentrated campaign to ticket offenders. (Initially, I suppose you could issue warnings) Certainly not a cure-all. Repeat as required. FES

I live on Clearview Drive and agree there is definitely a speeding problem on Lynn Way. I think the bigger problem on this street is that nobody stops at the stop signs! The nursing home employees are in a big hurry and run all four signs. One morning a week 6:00-7:00am our police force needs to sit way back on the east side of Clearview Drive and they would probably ticket ten people in that hours time. These same people run the signs on their way out of our city too. All it would take is for our police to do this once a month and the nursing home employees would know there is a possibility that they could get a ticket. i've lived here for 14yrs. and never seen the police ticket anyone on Lynn Way. Are they on the clock at 6:00am ?
