As President of the Greenfield Board of Directors, I would like to respond to the ?“Anonymous?” comment about the HOA having knowledge of this issue for months. I would also like to share the information that I do have with the homeowners of Greenfield. The Board of Directors for the Greenfield Master Owners Association received a letter dated May 5, 2000, from Matt Osborn, Planning Director for Village Homes, notifying the Board of the proposed IREA substation. Village Homes first heard about the preferred site for this power substation at a meeting on April 26, 2000. Prior to receiving the letter from Matt Osborn, the Board had no knowledge of this issue. Since receiving the letter, we have been in contact with IREA. They have advised us that they have met with the homeowners who will be directly impacted by the substation (those homes on the western boundary of Filing No. 2 in Greenfield). As a result of meetings with each of those homeowners, IREA is making some alterations to their plan, in order to mitigate the impact. They are also planning a public meeting to be held at the middle school in the beginning of June. As more information becomes available, it will be shared with the homeowners. I hope that this information will clarify some of the facts surrounding this issue.

You are not a homeowner, therefor you could care less about what happens with this substation and it's impact on Greenfield. If you did care, you would of stated in your response that the substation is not a done deal, and we as a community should fight it.

I agree. We must fight this substaion.
We do not fully understand how asbestos exposure creates disease, how smoking causes cancer and how DDT destroys the immune system. We did not wait for conclusive proof to issue warnings or remove products in those cases. Why risk the health and safety of our children and this community. Information is good. We should also ask if this substation can explode?

this is troubling

This is very troubling to me. Is Village and/or the HOA profiting from allowing the substation to be built? How is it possible for a substation to be built next to a school? I was not paying much attention to this because I thought it was me. I recently signed a contract to build and am now considering forfeiting my deposit to buy in an area where safety is valued. I still cannot believe that an electrical substation is going to be built next to a school. Hey why not sell out the recreation area for a landfill, or maybe we can import some toxic waste from Tennesse.
