Opportunities to Serve
Opportunities to Serve
As a resident you are encouraged to become involved and share your knowledge and talents in some of the following projects. Also, if you have children who are required to fulfill community service requirements their participation with these opportunities count towards their goal.
- Adopt-A-Highway Project
- Volunteers from Greenhaven periodically pick up trash and debris along Greenhaven’s stretch of Vivion Road to improve the curb appearance of our neighborhood.
- Flag Display Project
- On national holidays, our Association displays 50 of our nations flag’s throughout the neighborhood. The flags are placed on display from street light poles, fifteen feet above street level.
- This creates a beautiful and impressive display throughout our neighborhood. The project requires the support of at least nine persons. This is one of the most popular activities sponsored by our Association.
- Clean-Sweep Project (Dumpster Program)
- Twice each year our Association rents two large trash dumpsters. One dumpster is for leaves and brush and the other is for household “junk” from our garages and basements. A much neater and litter free neighborhood has resulted from this worthwhile project. To learn more about the specifics of this program please refer to the Clean-Sweep Page.
- Volunteers are needed to help our residents who are unable to take their items to the dumpster. Volunteers are also needed to help residents load their debris into the dumpsters.
- Landscape Maintenance
- There are two stone planters each containing shrubs, flowers and a Greenhaven sign located at the six entrances into our neighborhood.
- Volunteers water and maintain these planters by keeping the shrubs trimmed and the planters free of weeds and debris. Also, flowers are planted during the spring and summer months to add a touch of color.
- Serving on the Association’s Executive Committee
- Our Association is quite unique in that the Executive Committee consists of nineteen members. This large number of members on the Executive Committee has contributed to the success of the Neighborhood Association.
- All residents, home owners and renters, are invited to serve on one of the committees, as an Officer or an Area Representative as long as they are current with their membership to the Association. Please notify your area Representative or member of the Executive Committee should you be interested in joining this impactful group.
- The Executive Committee includes the four customary offices of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
- In addition there are six Area Representatives. The Greenhaven neighborhood has been divided into six areas and each area has its representative on the board.
- Also, there are nine standing Committees, and the Chairperson of each of these committees is automatically a member of the Executive Committee. The Committees are as follows:
i. Membership
ii. Hospitality
iii. Programs/Activities
iv. Publicity
v. Streets & Traffic
vi. Neighborhood Preservation
vii. Neighborhood Services
viii. Landscape Maintenance
ix. Safety
