I would like to know, is it ok to wash my vehicle at home?

I have been in some neighborhoods where washing your vehicle in the driveway was frowned upon.

Car washing is OK but car repairing is not unless it is a minor item like changing the oil.  Pulling the engine is not OK and repairing other people's vehicles is also not on the list of things to do in your spare time....
