We live in a beautiful neighborhood but unfortunately some neighbors do not follow the homeowners covenants. We moved to this upscale area to get away from problems that degrade a subdivision and to have an association that will back us.
A few years back the neighborhood association sent a notice out to homeowners that have brick fences on their yard. The association told us to repair our fences or else it would be done for us and then we would be sent the bill. While I would prefer the association to repairs the fences, so that it was done it a professional manner instead of different methods and materials that clearly show the repair, I accepted the directive and did the repairs along with most other homeowners. Now over two years later why do we still have some homeowners that have fences failing down? Some of these yards face 3009. Why? What happened to the threats?
We also have cars in the area that are wrecked and dripping oil or sit around for over a year and never move. I don't think I am unreasonable and can understand situations that might occur which causes things to get delayed a few months. Why?
We also have houses that are being painted pink or peach and not getting these approved by the association. Why does this happen?
We have to live with our neighbors and should not be in a position to police one another. Can you imagine walking over to a neighbor a couple times a month and discussing problems with their property.
I think the association should hire a part time police officer one day a week to drive the area to help enforce the association convenants. Our association dues are low and I think everyone would gladly pay more money to have a well maintained neighborhood that we are proud of. We all have to protect our investment and keep our neighborhood beautiful.
It is really unfortunate that we have some neighbors who don't take pride in home ownership but we shouldn't have to suffer for their lack of compliance. They should be given the choice to comply or move. We were all given the Greenshire convenants. We need a someone to enforce these rules before it affects our whole neighorhood.
What do you think? I don't think I am being unreasonable.
