Ever since Oakton Family restaurant closed down a few months ago, we've been looking for a new supplier for our Friday Night Pizza.
With a one year old in the house, we decided that the pie had to be delivered, whereas in the past we (I) didn't mind going into Oakton to pick it up.
So far, our favorite is Circle Pizzarama (pronounced ''pizza-RA-MA!'' like the Richmeister, Rob Schneider's character on Saturday Night Live). It's located at Fairfax Circle, in the same shopping center as Washington Golf and BowlAmerica, though it's closer to Lotte market. Good crust, sauce, and toppings. They make a good cheesesteak also.
This week we tried House of Philly for the first time. It's located on Lee Highway (Rte 29) near Jermantown Rd). The menu says their food ''is made from scratch'' but the crust tasted like it may have been frozen, which probably means that it wasn't made on-site. I'm no Gordon Ramsey, but that crust just didn't taste fresh. The large pie is also visibly smaller than others that we've tried. Not bad, but we can do better. 703-359-8000.
