Hard work pays off.
The good news that Herbal Garden is on the list of offer for preservation is wonderful.
The East New York Farms project is also save. 21 youth depend employment opportuinty provided by this project. The gardeners who participate in the farmer's market need the youth to turn over the beds for spring planting. Best of all the youth of ENY will have a program next year.
Due to the drought Herbal Garden was not at its best appearances, we stayed green and we did provide produce every week to the ENYFM. The best of the crops were presented, tomatoes, string beans, butter beans, collards, kale, and of course many varity of herbs, pineapple, lime,
orange mints, mountain, wood, apple and fine leaf mints. Lavender, broad leaf, lemon. lime and regular thyme. Lavender, basils, rosemary, angelica and many more herbs.
Herbal Garden presented workshops on compost and intinsive gardening and hat making. Due to drought we were unable to hold more workshops in the garden but Johanna as able to visit other gardens amd present other workshops. The heat of the summer made it impossible to work and now that cool weather has arrived many gardeners have gone back to work.
Workshops in knitting, crochet and quilting will be held at the New Lots Branch Library at the closing of the garden.
Look for the opening day when you return to this web site.
