At the city council meeting March 26th, the council decided to postpone voting on the proposed rezoning of the land south of 9th Street and west of Bryant. Part of the proposed use of the land will have to go back to the zoning commission for a re-hearing. Because of this, a date for the city council to vote on this has not been set. Many thanks to those of you who took the time to contact the council members to voice your opposition to the proposal and to those who attended the council meeting. It is apparent that this had a significant impact.
This issue is not over. The same response we had this time needs to be made when it comes back up. One of the tactics used in unpopular rezoning issues is to stretch it out in hopes that the opposition will grow weary of the issue and not be able to muster the needed effort. We can not afford to let this happen.
