After reading the newest comments/concerns on our website, I felt compelled to respond. Our Website: I have tried to keep things current as much as possible. I have added some links to make it easier to check crime reports, report city code violations, etc. I also put a Deed Restriction Reference Sheet in the community pages. I think people are using/checking it because we have between 400-600 hits per month (1100 hits in January). If you have any suggestions as to what else you would like to see on our website, please let me know. I agree that some properties look very poor--yards/weeds not mowed, etc. It's hard to imagine that people would pay good money for their homes and let them go to pot. Not only does their property look bad but it also brings down the others that have worked so hard to maintain their integrity. I know there are some rentals here but there is no way to know exactly how many. That still is no excuse for not maintaining the property. Of course, many of these things can be reported to city code for resolution (which in some cases I have had to do). The Association (all homeowners) has had trustees (volunteers) to try & keep things running smoothly. For the most part, that has been done. The trustee(s) is not, nor can be, the enforcer of the whole community. All homeowners need to take a part in the integrity of our community---which can simply be done by maintaining their property. Dues have not been collected because there was enough money at the time to pay for the mowing of the common areas. Invoices will be sent out this year though or there will not be enough to pay for the mowing through the summer. The deed restrictions/association were created by M/I Homes that built Hamilton Highlands. I was the first person to buy/build here. The restrictions were given to each new homeowner, but I don't remember having to sign them. Unfortunately, we found out later that a lot of the second-time buyers were not being furnished with those papers by the realtor. Several of those homeowners did contact the trustee(s) to obtain a copy. Anyone needing a copy of the deed restrictions can obtain one from one of the people on the contact list on our website. Hopefully "neigh" you will not sell your house because of all your concerns. We need concerned homeowners like you to maintain the integrity of Hamilton Highlands.
