Party Use Policy Review

Posted in: HarborPlace Tower
At the January Board Meeting, it was suggested that the incoming Board should review the policy and procedures governing the use of common areas for private parties. This certainly seems like a good place to gather input and begin a discussion (if only someone out there woudl wander on over!).

Don suggested that it might be appropriate if the room on P-1 never be reserved for private functions so it would always be available for a cup of coffee and to read the newspaper. Gayleen mentioned that the coffee could be placed outside the room while it was in use. I kind of prefer to have parties in that room where security could keep an eye on them rather than giving party attendees access to the first floor.

I agree with those who felt that the HOA should not attempt to rent space for a profit. It sounds like the prescribed $250 deposit is being collected (but I wonder if some parties are held without previous arrangements). I noticed that after one party, the carpet needed vacuuming and believe in cases like that, there should be a mandatory cleaning fee. The idea of requiring the hiring of a security person appeals to me, but it should probably be dependent on the number of guests...say more than ten.
