Rummage Sale

You all did a great job donating and purchasing at the first Hayhurst Neighborhood Association rummage sale. After expenses and payment to the church, we netted $418! Thank you to our volunteers and donors!

Other News

45TH STREET STAIRS:
Work should begin this fall on the steps and trail on the 45th street right-of-way between Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy and Cullen Blvd. It will be done with volunteer labor - please help if you can. We'll be working with SOLV and SWTrails to improve this key connection between the
neighborhood and Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy and mass transit. Please call or email if you have questions or concerns about this route.

SHATTUCK ROAD DEVELOPMENT:
The 20 unit development at Shattuck Rd and Boundary St has been approved with some conditions. Full street improvements on the west side of Shattuck will be required, as are street trees and an on-site water run-off collection system. No news on when the construction will begin.

PEDESTRIAN ISLANDS:
We had a meeting this month with PDOT representative, Mark Lear. He told us that our pedestrian island at 62nd street will be the first (of many that need to be constructed across the city) to be constructed as soon as the money is secured. No news on when that will be.

BIKE COLLECTION:
We will be collecting used bikes for the Community Cycling Center's program that matches low income children and adults with refurbished and safe bicycles. Bring all sizes of bikes and bike parts to the Multnomah Arts Center, 7688 SW Capitol Hwy, on August 21, from 9 am to 2 pm. Donations are tax deductible.

Walk to School Day

International Walk to School Day is October 6th. As the SW Coordinator, I would like to see all our SW schools participate. If there is a Hayhurst and/or Robert Gray parent out there who would like to work with me and the school to increase the number of children walking or biking to school, please call or email. There is a coordination meeting on August 16th at the Multnomah Arts Center, 7 pm.
