Our church will be sending a mission team to Russia again this year. This will be our third year of participating in this ministry.
The Russia Team, consisting of nine members have returned. The 2001 mission was successful and there were no major complications. Security has been very tight at most airports and at customs due to the terrorist activity in the world. Our Team members said they knew they were in God's hands and that the Church back home was in prayer for them.
Former Pastor of Hazelwood Baptist Church, Ed Tarleton, who now serves as a career missionary with his family in Moscow, Russia has requested for the past three years, a team of volunteers to serve as missionary and to provide childcare and Bible training for the children of about 75 missionaries who serve there. These missionaries are having prayer retreat and training sessions.
This was a unique opportunity to minister to missionaries by serving their children. Rev. Hilton Davis, pastor of Hazelwood Baptist Church, along with 10- 11 volunteers from this church traveled to Russia for the last two years to meet this need. These volunteers left behind families and sometimes spouses and children to answer this call from God.

The average Russian reads three times as many books per year as the average U.S. citizen.
