My family and I moved into the neighborhood back in 1985. Our cul-de-sac was the first one built. Although I've moved away from the area and started my own family, my parents have remained in their house for almost 30 years. Of course, as a child, I made many friends in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. My best friend lived off Lazy Oaks (the neighborhood behind ours), and my other close friend lived right by Mac HS. They have lived in their respective areas from 20-25 years. Both of their mothers developed cancer in their 40-50s and have passed. My mother (in her 60's) survived breast cancer but now has Stage IV colon cancer.
I know cancer is a common disease these days, but this is too close for comfort. If I remember correctly, the neighborhood was built over a landfill. What kind of landfill? And didn't the land used to be used for farming? Also, I'd really like to know of anyone who has lived in the area for a long period of time and has/had cancer.
If anyone can help me out with the above questions, I'd really appreciate it.
