Heninger Park

Neighborhood Notes by Ginelle Hardy

Have you noticed that neighborhood sign toppers are up and looking good? THANKS to all who made our signs possible including, UCI professor Kristen Day & her Urban Studies Class, Orange County Chapter of Urban Design, City of Santa Ana Neighborhood Improvement's Carol Berg and Regan Candelario & Public Works, all Heninger Park sign competition participants, 2nd place winners, Rebecca, Teresa, and Mario Guillen and the 1st place winner Sarah Alex!

Are you surprised to read on the sign toppers that Heninger Park is a Historic District? Are there advantages? The answer is YES! One great advantage to owning a historic property in Heninger Park Neighborhood is a possible property TAX REDUCTION to help with preservation of your historic home or building. Eligible homes or buildings are at least 50 years old and are contributing to Heninger Park Historic District. A contributing house or building has retained their historic character with little or no exterior alterations and/or additions. Contributing buildings may be eligible to be listed on the City's Register of Historic Buildings and property owners can apply for the Historic Property Preservation or Mills Act agreement.
