Hickory Hills Neighbors

Consideration of your neighbors

Posted in: Hickory Hills
Let me begin by acknowledging that I realize we do live in a close community, close as in not much room between the houses. What you may not realize is that, being in such a close community, your dogs' barking is bothersome to your neighbors and is possibly closer to their house than yours. Both my husband and I work at home during the day and it is most difficult to concentrate with incessant barking all around us. Most likely, you are not home and don't realize this, but those of us that are home realize it all too well. Don't get me wrong--I love dogs, we have one, I showed dogs for years quite successfully--but I have tried my best not to inflict my pets on my neighbors. All I ask is that we all become aware of what we might unintentionally be subjecting our neighbors to, and then try to make changes, if needed. There is a noise ordinance in Mt. Juliet, and barking is covered under that ordinance. Let's all do our part to be good neighbors. Thanks.

Love thy neighbor

I could not agree more with this post. I have been ill for a couple of days and have been at home during the daytime on 1/26 and 1/27. I cannot get any rest because these dogs begin barking at 7:00 AM and continue NON STOP until 7:00 PM. You know who you are. I can elaborate a little more on your location. One is a house on Edinburgh between Yarmouth and Carrington. The other major problems are with someone on Edinburgh just past Carrignton. I hate to bring this to a police issue because no one wants a childs dog gone, but you have to realize your dogs barking is disturbing everyone remotely close to you. I would hate to know what it is like for a nurse or someone who works a midnight shift to try to sleep during the day with these dogs going NON STOP. Please, for the consideration of your neighbors, do something to become a managable neighbor.
Dogs roaming the Hood

My complaint isn't necessarily the barking of the dogs. Mine is how completely irresponsible people are with their pets. Tying them up to their trucks. Or the worst letting them roam the neighborhood freely. Its a shame that we don't have a dog pound person that doesn't roam neighborhoods and collect these animals that people are so neglectful of. That would definitely send a message to the disrespectful people of our community.
Thanks.

Enough

I have to take a lot of work home with me. I have resorted to putting in ear plugs in the afternoon and evening because of all the barking. I do not expect the community to be silent, but my problem is the consistent barking. We all know dogs bark, but there is no reason for them to be barking for 30 minutes to an hour consistently. If your dog is going crazy outside, please bring it inside or go outside and get it to quiet down a little.
I have decided to begin calling our Mt. Juliet animal control department when this happens. If you would like the number, it is 754-2550 ext. 207.

If someone from 2540 Edinburgh looks at this information, please do not leave your dog outside from 6 AM to 7:30 AM because not everyone works the same hours as you do and do not wish to be woken early everyday because you will not let your dogs back in.
