The plan to redevelop 368 blocks of the Jamaica Downtown and surrounding area is now navigating the ULURP process. The immediate effect on our area is on Hillside Avenue from Parsons Boulevard to Homelawn Street. City Planning has proposed new zoning which will increase density in that corridor in answer to the city's need for additional housing. I have several questions for you, as community members affected by this initiative. WHAT DO YOU WANT? HOW DO YOU WANT IT TO LOOK?
It's not enough to say what you DON'T want. City Planning requires input from the community involved. So, get involved by submitting your ideas. Think of it as being asked what kind of gift you want. Then imagine it and tell us.
