Beautification Award? YES or NO?

Posted in: Sharon Meadows
Do you think it is a good idea for the homeowner association to have an Award Program for Homeowner Beautification???

We can submit homes to the city, but focus on recognizing the homeowners within the subdivision who do a good job of beautifying the neighborhood.

TELL US WHAT YOU THINK????

Hi SMHOA;
Yes, I truly think that we need our own home beautification awards within
our own subdivision. To hell with the City of Southfield. We need one for the
summer and one for Christmas decorations.

I'm pretty neutral on the beautification award issue. I don't know that an award will inspire any particular motivation. Not a bad idea but those who put special effort into the appearance of their property will likely do so anyway.

If somehow our local award got the subdivison praise in the city administration and the media, that might be worth considering.

We have had a beautification award for Northland Green for the last 3 years. We send out ballots for individuals to return to vote for a homeowner. We offer a sign and a lowes or meyers card for winning. However participation is slim or people vote for themselves. We are thinking about just voting among the HOA officers due to this.

However, I do think it is a great way to get people involved and to show appreciation to those that take time to beautiful their home.

Should only dues paying memebers be involved or the entire subdivision?
