Historic Kenwood has spirit!
Hi, Cliff:
I did not participate in this year's Bungalowfest. But I know exactly what you are talking about because I felt just the same way last year. I was so moved and proud of the way we all worked together to highlight not only the architecture and real estate in our neighborhood, but the spirit, which is at least as unique and precious.
At the ''after party'' last year, suddenly I could see the fruition of all our years of hard work planting trees, cleaning up the park, marching to free ourselves of drug dealers and crack houses, building community through porch parties, and it all seemed to magically gel together and I realized something: We have arrived! And we did it. It was a wonderful feeling.
I'm glad to hear that Bungalowfest went just as wonderfully this year. My New Year's wish for Historic Kenwood is that we all remember this spirit, cherish it, preserve it and nuture it.
Sometimes it is so easy to fall short and get caught up in some of the negative things--but then it serves us well to remember how special the Kenwood spirit is, and realize that's what living here is all about. Thanks for the reminder, Cliff.
