The Plan is now schedule for adoption by City Council on Monday, February 25, 2002.
On October 4, 2001 at 6:30 p.m., members of the Washington Heights Small Area Plan Study Group met to review the draft recommendations prior to the formal review and adoption process.
The Study Group comprised of committed and dedicated residents of Washington Heights property owners, business representatives, service providers, and City staff have been meeting over the past year to develop strategies and recommendations to strengthen the economic health of our neighborhood by building on neighborhood assets and taking a comprehensive approach to address economic, human/social and physical development. These strategies also seek to engage civic participation of neighborhood residents, who have the highest stake in the well-being of their neighborhood, to the extent that stronger voluntary effort is realistic.
We are in the final stages. Our thanks appreciation to Sandy L. Kritzinger and John Howard for their outstanding leadership, compassion, and dedication to see this plan through to adoption. We also extend our thanks to Sam Barber and Gayle Vaca, Engineering and Property Management and staff for attending each and every meeting. Melony McCullough and Debra Campbell for hearing and responding with compassion to our concerns throughout this process. Washington Heights wishes to acknowledge the contributions of the residents and the entire Staff Team, and our Community Police officers.
