Washington Heights Small Area Plan Project - Street Connectivity

Congratulations to the City staff from the Engineering & Property Management Department, Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission and the Charlotte Department of Transportation for an outstanding job on this project. It's a work of art. You must see the before and after photos.

The Washington Heights Small Area Plan road connectivity project is complete. The completion of this project connects Onyx Street (soon to be renamed to Burke-Williams Street) to Estelle Street at L. C. Coleman Park. Constructed improvements included sidewalk, curb and gutter, pedestrian scale lighting and planting strips.

Landscaping will be completed before the planting season ends in April 2005. Oak trees will be installed along the right side of Onyx Street to Estelle Street.
