Rita and Onita Cockerham lived on Fay Street. The Buntons lived on Kuban where it intersects Fay. When we first moved to JTW there was no city water. We bought water from a man named Rippetoe. My mom was the one who organized the committee to petition Fort Worth for city water. She collected the required $150 (a lot back then) from everyone for water lines.

I looked at JTW Kids on Facebook but didn't see a soul I knew. It's a private group so I asked for membership and will see what happens.

I too was in a couple of those talent shows. The best talent I remember was Roger Price who played guitar and sang. Many years ago after the school was razed I found one of the original red bricks and brought it home. I still have it.

They will approve you of course on Facebook. I have the same problem and no one is my age. I do know a couple of them. That is so cool that you have a brick!  I have a good picture of the old, oversized mailbox that I will send you. Are you on FB? I will friend you.

Where do you live now? How did life go after John T. White? lol

I don't know Fay Street. Where is it? We also "hauled" water from a farmer in the river valley in big metal cans. There was a pig farm up on Sandy Lane owned by the Wrights. My brother was friends with the son, Sammy. We lived on the corner of Kuban and Sandy across from the greyhound ranch for a few years and then moved to the other end. We had a great dog, a german shepherd, who we could send down the long street to check on my aunt who lived down there. One day someone shot our dog as he was returning. I remember my mother crying, down on her knees in the dirt and offering money if anyone would tell who did it. Rumors for years was it was someone named Mitchell who lived back from the road. And it was just for meanness.

Just remembered the guy we bought water from was named Ray Thomas and he owned a sand and gravel plant in addition to his farms.

Do you remember the day a jet blew up down in the river bottom and everyone jumped in their cars and drove down there?  Our neighbors kept a piece of the nosecone on their coffee table for years. We were laying down for a nap and I happened to be gazing out the window and saw and heard the explosion. Aluminum was raining down in tiny pieces. The pilot was ok because he ejected.

Yes I do. I happened to be watching that plane (jets werent that common back then) when it blew up. Mrs. Rice got mad because i shouted, "Look a plane blew up!" Papers from the plane rained on us as we walked home after school. My path home = up the hill on JTW road to Sandy Lane - Rt. on Sandy Lane to Kuban Blvd. Then cut through the Lofgren's property to ours. I learned the multiplecation table on Kuban on the way to school. There were 4 Lofgren kids: Pamela, Cassie, Junior, and Joy.
