Holdeman Neighborhood Association

50,000 neighborhood grant

Posted in: Mitchell Park West

I just talked to some neighbors from Mitchell Park East, and Linda, former association president, advised us that at last night's Tempe City Council meeting the $50M Mary Anne Corder grant was awarded to their group for artistic upgrades to the traffic calming projects on Farmer and Wilson in the Mitchell Park East area.

This means our garden grant application was not approved.

We can still apply for the large grant in years to come. We  can  begin now asking our neighbors what they feel would be best use of the funds.  I hope the Parks Department will  now  consider sponsoring neighborhood gardens .

The latest info from Shauna is posted on the Community Garden Grant page of the "Community Pages" section.  If I have mispoken in the latest posting, please let me know so I can fix it.  Much thanx to all who put the thought and effort into challenging the system with this "unconventional" (by Tempe's standards) use of the Park.  Especially, hats off to Mark Lymer for driving the application to done.  It was a great accomplishment, and no one can take that away from him.

I don't understand.  What was your latest posting?  I haven't seen anything new here for days.

Re "It was a great accomplishment, and no one can take that away from him."  Why would anyone try?  Who is trying to "take that away from him"?
