Hi.  The request that we actioned was in response to the street light at the end of the cul de sac on Ruskin Row being out for quite some time.  No request had been received concerning adding a new street light until your message here.

I'm unsure of the process to add another light or who would be responsible for paying for installation and service since the builders likely installed the ones that we have now but when the next board meeting gets scheduled, I will bring it up.  The ones we now have are apparently maintained by NOVEC at no cost to the association.

Street lights are handled by the County, the streets and easments are county, not HOA.  From PWC Government site:

Street Light Program

• The goal of the program is to improve public safety by reducing the frequency and severity of crimes and accidents through the installation and maintenance of streetlights.
• The program is managed by the Department of Transportation Streetlight Program Coordinator as a County partnership with Dominion Virginia Power and Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative.
• The Streetlight Program Coordinator works closely with the District Supervisors and the Police Department to select new street light locations.  
• Citizens may request the installation of streetlights through their District Supervisor or the Streetlight Program Coordinator, Al Hedgepeth, by email ahedgepeth@pwcgov.org or telephone at 703-792-6823.

A letter was sent to Supervisor Nohe's office which replied on September 20, 2011.  The reply is as follows:

Mr. Wootten-

Thank you for this request.  Your timing is good because we are just starting to look at the streetlight requests for the new fiscal year.  Once we have collected together all of the requests, we will prioritize those that would have the most impact and select the locations based on what our budget is.  That may not occur until the end of the year, but we will certainly give yours serious consideration.  It certainly seems like an area that would benefit from additional lighting.

I have copied my Chief of Staff, Delain Moyers on this message.  She may be in touch with you in the future as she oversees the process in my office.

Thank you Marty - The request was relayed incorrectly back in March through our HOA management company because I talked to Mark Fisher specifically and he understood my request as I described it over the phone. 

Either way, I appreciate you forwarding it to the board and pleased with their response.  If we can please make sure to stay on top of it so they do not loose site, I would really appreciate it.  If there is anything I can do please let me know.

Do we have the next HOA meeting scheduled as of yet for Holly Brooks?
