Community is the sharing of common interest.  People seem to only share a common interest when disaster or tragedy strikes.  Why are we not sharing before disasters?  I for one need to put forth more effort to reach out when all is well.  During Hurricane Ike I found time to visit neighbors and offer help.  I really talked to people.  After a few weeks, life was back to not putting forth efforts for community.  What is wrong?  Does anyone else feel what I am expressing.

Yes. It seems to be a change in people in general. Busy lives, selfishness, television, entertainment, apathy, privacy, and hesistation are the factors here in my opinion.
