New mothers and pregnant woman in Detroit have a resource available to ensure successful parenting. Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion (DHWP) Public Health Nurses are available for free home visits from early pregnancy through the second birthday of the child through the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP).
NFP nurses conduct home visits for two and a half years to help first-time parents succeed. The program is evidence-based and has demonstrated positive outcomes for the parent and child. For more information or to make a referral to the program, call (313) 876-0771.
