Dear Citizen, this e-mail is in response to your e-mail dated January 15, 2009 to Roderick Sanchez, Director of Planning and Development Services on the subject matter. We apologize for responding late.

For the particular area in question, you make some very good points. Its always a sensitive issue when development projects are planned near floodplains. In this case, there is a Bexar County Bond project that will improve this area of Hausman Road and eliminate the low water crossing. We believe this Capital Improvement Project will handle any proposed up stream developments storm water flows. The information I received indicates the engineering and design should commence this year and construction is anticipated to start in year 2011.

I have copied Mr. Martin Cristofaro. Program Manager for Bexar County Flood Control CIP in this e-mail in case you have any other specific questions on the Bexar County project. His number is 210-296-2170.

Thanks for following up with the city on this issue - we lost almost everything on our first floor in the Aug 2007 flood.  Since the city isn't going to do anything about it until 2011 I would strongly recommend that everyone look into flood insurance. 

We had over $20,000 in damage to the structure and personal property and no flood insurance.  We did get a policy for under $400/year and it covers up to $250,000. But it's been a nightmare!
