It never ceases to amaze me the absolute disregard for safety of drivers in our neighborhood. It's ridiculous! I can't even begin to tell you how many ''near misses'' I've had of vehicles that continue to pull directly out in front of me from Forest Pond and Spanish Moss roads as I travel down Nevin. Does severe bodily harm and/or damage to your vehicles and personal property not resonate with these idiots? For those of you who are having a hard time processing what he red and white octangular metal signs on poles with the letters S T O P on them are, let me explain them to you in the simplest terms I know how. ''When you come to a stop sign, you're supposed to STOP and look in both directions to make sure it is safe to proceed!'' That's what they are intended for and you most likely will see them and traffic lights throughout the city anytime two roads come together...this is called an ''INTERSECTION''.

There are children playing, people walking with their pets, and...oh yes, other drivers on the road that you need to pay attention to.

This is a SHOUT OUT to the guy who rips up and down are neighborhood on his mototcycle and who just about became my hood ornament yesteday as he began to pull right out in front of my GMC Sierra truck from Spanish Moss...''SLOW DOWN & WAKE UP!!'' Right before this a car pulled directly into my path from Forest Pond and I had to react quickly, hit my breaks hard, and swerve to miss him. I'm so sick of you drivers who don't care about anything else exceot yourselves and don't pay attention by focusing on driviing. Obey the law, slow down, and stop at STOP SIGNS...pretty simple comcepts don't you think?

Again, I attribute the increase in traffic incidences like these to the ''quality'' of people who are moving into our neighborhood.

One other thing...when was it permissable to park vehicles on the side of the road? These are a hazard as well and needs to be addressed.

Thank you, Mark, for your words on traffic control measures. However, I must say one thing - you are preaching to the choir.

I say this because the people that read these postings are more than likely not the people who are using ''california rules'' for driving.

Anyway, it is nice to see that you are not insulting everyone with your choice of words!

Again, thank you for weighing your verbal signage in this posting!

We realize you like to voice your opinions LOUDLY on the message board. You must realize that most citizens do obey traffic signs and should not be counseled due to someone else's negligence. Most of the offenders are of the teenage age and should be more considerate of pedestrians and children. Also, maybe you should form a safety committee and address ways to correct the problems that you have mentioned. Lastly, who taught you that it is okay to judge people? Everyone is unique and ''quality'' is inappropriate slang. I think for the most part that Forest Pond is a nice community and everyone is a product of their upbringing.

Chrissy,

How long have you lived in FP?  How do you know that "most" offenders are of "teenage age"?  Form a "Safety Committe"...are you serious?  What would this so-called committe do?  I call it like I see it...if the truth hurts and someone's feelings get hurt (judged) I don't really give a hoot.  I would contend that your assertion that "most citizens" obey traffice signs is correct.  However, maybe the problem is the fact that we have illegal aliens out there without a license, without insurance and who don't even understand the traffic signs )(English).  As far as my "quality" statement regarding the types of people moving into FP during the last 5-7 yrs....I'll stand by it.  Nothing but thugs and freeloaders...how many homes in FP are now being leased instead of owned?  I've watched more than one residence go through 5 renters in as many years.  They don't care about FP.  This neighborhood has gone down hill since I moved in back in 99'.  So, if your diagnosis of the problem of obeying traffic signs is related to the product on one's upbringing, how do we as a "community" come together to police those whose upbringing teaches them self-serving, disrespectful, rude, and otherwise flagrant behavior?  It's a simple matter of slowing down, being cautious, obeying the speed limit, and safe driving habits.

Also, since I'm at it...why don't YOU help pick up the used condoms, condom wrappers, fast food trash, litter,  flavored cigar wrappers, malt-liquor cans and bottles, removal of graffiti and repair of vandalized private property in our park, on our streets, etc.?  Nice neighborhood you say...it used to be....not anymore.

I can surmise from your response that you're of the socio-economic, enviro justice crowd who really isn't concerned about the RULE OF LAW but instead about people's feelings getting hurt.  So, instead of criticizing me for making an obvious, legitament point, why don't you just slow down, obey the stop signs, and quit being a cry baby!
