Many of you might have read a recently published Commercial Appeal article about a proposed Peabody Avenue landscaped median plan.
A survey has been taken of those Central Gardens property owners on Peabody. The City Engineer, John Conroy, and staff meet with interested individuals on November 4th. Due to unintentional oversights by both the City and Central Gardens, the Idlewild Neighborhood Association was not asked for input prior to this meeting.
We now have an opportunity to particiate. Mr. Jack Marshall and Mr. Brent Kernodle have been most helpful in providing us with the up to date information and survey/petition forms for our Peabody property owners.
It is my understanding that if this plan is approved, 8 foot wide landscaped medians would be installed on Peabody Avenue between Cleveland and Cooper Streets. Personally, I think it would be beneficial to our neighborhood. Not only would it reinforce the bonding of our neighbors to the north and south of Peabody but it would be a buffer to the commercial areas on the east end of Cooper. Property values would benefit.
