Notice of 2006 Annual Meeting

Oct 19, 2006

NOTICE OF 2006
I.H.R.A. GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Thursday October 26, 7:00 PM
Northwest Church of the Nazarene
5707 Olentangy River Rd.

This year?’s annual resident?’s meeting will start at 7:00 PM. We?’ll hear financial and committee reports, other items of business, and ask for approval of the proposed budget for fiscal year 2006/2007.

Proposal to Increase Fees

One important item of business will be the proposal to increase each property?’s annual fee to $75, and to increase the new owner association membership fee to $250. These fees are currently $50 and $150. A special letter outlining this issue was recently sent to all owners. The Executive Board recommends passage of this proposal. The $50 annual fee has been in effect without increase since 1991. The $150 association membership fee has been in effect without increase since 1985. The IHRA must have a sufficient source of income for its administrative costs (taxes, insurance, utilities, printing, postage, etc.) and for periodic improvements, repairs and maintenance on our commonly-owned areas. Our expenses have increased steadily in the past 16 years, the Association?’s accounts have begun to show operating losses. The Board believes the time has come to increase our income. The proposed increase is reasonable and modest (an additional $2.08 per month), and in the best interests of the Association. The special letter included a proxy for advance voting. If you?’ve lost your proxy and want another, please call Bob Jacobsen at 848-9913.

Election of Officers

Another item of business at the annual meeting will be the election of five officers and one trustee. To fill this year?’s slate, the nominating committee of George Rittel, Jack Conner and Bob Jacobsen have presented the following candidates (all positions are for a one year term unless noted):

President Ed Geraghty Vice President Tim Matyac Treasurer Bob Jacobsen Secretary Jim Stevenson Assistant Secretary Tim Carroll

Trustee - 5 yr. term Rosemarie Lisko
11/06 thru 10/11 - or -

OLD POOL FURNITURE FOR FREE!
This summer, the Indian Hills Pool replaced its chaise lounges and low armchairs (sand chairs). Some of the old furniture remains. It is vinyl strap/metal frame furniture. These chairs are not perfect, but they could be repaired. The remaining old furniture will be displayed in the pool parking lot beginning Fri. Oct. 27th. It can be yours for the taking. Check it out!

BUYER BEWARE!
Blockwatch Chairperson Gini Peloquin reports that some residents recently taped envelopes of cash on their front doors prior to having their house number painted on their curb. These residents say that the next day, the cash was gone and the numbers were never painted. All residents are urged to use caution with any unsolicited, door-to-door operator.

REMINISCENCE

Here?’s another installment in what has been a popular series recollections and neighborhood history from some of our long-time residents.

Mrs. Norma Bennett of 930 Greenridge says that she and her family moved into their home in February of 1962. She recalls that her kids initially went to school at the old Worthington Methodist church. She says there was a realtor?’s office on Greenridge across the street from her house.

As the neighborhood was being built, mud and dirt were everywhere. You had to get in the habit of taking off your shoes before entering your house. And sometimes people would walk into these new but uninhabited houses as they were nearing completion, just to have a look. Norma said that only a few days after moving in, as she and her family sat down to dinner, their front door opened without a knock and in strolled a curious couple just like they owned the place!

Norma says that until they came to Indian Hills, they had moved often. She wasn?’t sure how long they?’d stay here. But they soon grew to like the neighborhood, and 44 years later, she?’s still here.
