Indian Hills

Neighborhood Turns 35!

Apr 13, 2005

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Indian Hills is 35 years old this year. Please let the Association know who you think has lived here for the longest uninterrupted period.

We know that Norma and Gordon Hein are original owners on Sedgwick Rd.

MAY 14
IHRA GARAGE SALE DAY

Question- What is the difference between Garage Sale Day and Garbage Pickup Day?
Answer- How close the items are to the curb.
But luckily, one man?’s trash is another man?’s treasure. Tidy up your house and earn a tidy sum on a day that will bring a lot of customers to Indian Hills. The sale will last from 9-3, and will be advertised in local newspapers.

DAVID LETTERMAN MAY MOVE INTO INDIAN HILLS

If he does, he would join the pool. There are new developments (and a reminder of the old) that he would include in a ?“TOP 10?” list.

1) FREE MEMORIAL DAY- Even if you are not a pool member, come kick off Summer at no charge on Memorial Day.
2) FRIDAY FUN NIGHT- The pool hours are 12-7 on every day but Friday. On Friday the kids bring their rafts and appetites to enjoy the cookout offerings with lots of families until 9PM. A great start to the weekend.
3) LESS DAY CARE- We welcome our daycare population on fewer days now. On Tuesday, Thursday and the weekends, no day care folks will share the pool. (Day care helps the pool increase income, and keeps the cost down for you.)
4) SWIM LESSONS AND SWIM TEAM- Both are fun ways for your kids to enjoy the pool while getting structured exercise, instruction and fun. Lessons are available at 2 different times. The Swim Team competes with other clubs at our pool and at other clubs. The emphasis is on instruction, camaraderie and development, not hard-core competition.
5) GUEST PASS BOOKLETS- Lots of members like to share the pool with non-member family and friends. This year, guest pass booklets are available at a 30% DISOUNT from the standard guest fee.
6) SNACK SHACK BOOKLETS- Everyone enjoys a drink or snack at the pool, But not all parents want to turn the kids loose with $. Snack Shack ticket booklets will be available this year.
7) YOUR NEIGHBORS- Want to go someplace to relax where you have something in common with everyone else? Come meet the other wonderful people who live in Indian Hills.
8) YOUR ASSET- Indian Hills has many ?“common areas?” that belong to ALL residents. The entrances, the pool/tennis complex, the basketball court and parking lot and the wooded walking areas are all IH assets. Come enjoy YOUR asset.
9) HOT SUMMERS- Why be cooped up in the air-conditioning when you can take a vacation at the pool? Surrounded by woods and a babbling brook, there are quiet places to read and nap. You can join a volleyball game or cannonball off the diving boards. Cook out on the pool grills. It?’s a vacation that takes a few minutes to arrive.
10) RENTAL OPPORTUNITY- The pool closes at 7. That leaves a lot of sunshine to host your birthday party, team get-together, scout meeting, etc. at the pool. YOU can rent the pool (with guards) for a VERY reasonable price.

Michelle Devol is the new pool Poobah (Chairperson). Please call her (635-5935) for answers to questions about any of the ?“TOP 10?”.

The 2005 application is included with this newsletter. Your support is what keeps the pool alive and thriving for this and future generations of IH families.

DON?’T FORGET TENNIS

David is a little lazy, so he might not join the IH tennis club. But you can. For a mere $20, you can play on our private courts during the day or under the lights.
Tennis chair John Hoffmann (436-6355) can tell you about the resurfacing that is to be finished this Spring. The Tennis membership form is also enclosed.

EASTER EGG HUNT

The traditional Easter Egg Hunt was a well attended event. The April 26 hunt was blessed with good weather and excited kids hunting through the newly trimmed commons area of the neighborhood.
Kellie Murnane was the Easter bunny this year.

ACCOUNTING REVIEW

On February 10, 2005, accountant Marianne Shyster reviewed the income statements, balance sheet, bank statements and associated accounts of the Indian Hills Resident?’s Association, Swim Club and Tennis Club for the period October 2003 through September 2004. Ms. Shuster opined that the financial statements fairly represent the financial positions of the Swim, Tennis and Administration accounts as of September 2004. The accounts are in conformity with generally accepted accounting practices.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

If you would like to help with the pool opening, please give Michelle Devol a call. A neighborhood crew will be cleaning, painting and laughing their way through a necessary part of enjoying the pool sometime in mid-May.

NEW NEIGHBORS

Please welcome our new arrivals.

CLEAN UP REQUEST
At the April 5, 2005 IHRA board meeting, Mary Jaquay noted that it would be a good idea for each homeowner to clean the curbs of leaves, sticks and other rubbish that collects during the Winter.
It does make sense.

IH HAS FUN ACTIVITIES
The association needs an activities director. If you would be interested in heading up the fun part of the association, please contact Tim Murnane (431-9408)

Duties would include the Easter Egg Hunt mentioned above, in addition to our other seasonal celebrations. It?’s low maintenance and open for creativity.
