Has anyone heard of a gathering of Warfleigh folks to discuss what can be done as a group to combat the property tax debacale?

Sullivan Hardware to Stock Yard Signs

''For Sale By Owner (Due to Unfair Taxation)'' signs

Hats off to Pat Sullivan and Jay Snyder of locally owned Sullivan Hardware Stores who just placed an order for 500 yard signs. They will be on sale at both stores about $3.50 each. They should arrive sometime on Wednesday, July 11th.

They told us that they will order more if all 500 sell. Their stock of regular 4-Sale By Owner signs sold out in minutes when news of the Governor's Mansion Press Conference got out.

Please make sure you shop for all your hardware and garden needs at Sullivan Hardware and thank them for their generous help with this effort.

Special thanks to Sullivan Hardware employee Kathy (and Fair Tax volunteer) for helping us get this order completed so quickly!
City County Council Meeting info

Subject: RE: City County Council Meeting information

Dear Fellow Marion County Tax Payers,

I know that we are all weary of the whole tax issue but I have either spoken with you recently regarding this or saw you, your spouse, and/or your children (with protest messages painted on their torso) at a tax rally. I have some important information that may be useful to you. There is great confusion and wrong information about the upcoming City Council meeting regarding Mayor Peterson's proposed income tax increase. I finally have the definitive answer on when the applicable meetings will be held.

In addition to the devastating increase in the property taxes, Mayor Peterson is proposing that income taxes be increased 65%. There was no apparent consideration of spending cuts. Surprisingly, there has been little resistance to this.

While this is not massive like the property tax increase, it is yet more taxes to a government entity that is getting over 30% of the property tax revenue. It is supposedly going to fund public safety including a reduction in a massive, long standing underfunding of the police pension fund (not a new issue). While it all relates to public safety, it is important to note there is nothing in this spending proposal tht specifically fights crime such as new police officers (they are counting those already in the academy -- it is all truly bizarre).

Right now all Democrats (including all at large) and one Republican councilors support it. While it seems to be a done deal, I finally got the real information on when the meetings to consider it will be held. On a side note, I truly appreciate the Council employee that finally gave me the straight answer below after suffering with other unhelpful, uncaring, or ignorant County personnel last week.

You may want to consider contacting your City Council representatives, all the at large representatives, and the mayor regarding your feelings -- pro or con -- for this. You can find them at this link www.indygov.org/eGov/Council/Councillors/Biography/home.htm. I am going to try to attend the meetings and speak.

I have a very modest home email contact list and did limit this to those with whom I have seen or spoken. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be interested. Also, could someone forward to the David Christoff family? Beth specifically asked me about this yet I do not have an email address for them.

THANKS!

David Fryrear
