THe Crime Watch meeting on March 6th got off to a great start. Approximately 20 homeowners attended along with several current board members and Sgt. Tim Doudy...who was our featured spreaker that evening. For those of you that were there, If you have any suggestions as to how we could put that presentation together a little better, we would love to hear your suggestions. Also...we are going to need between 16-18 volunteers to act as block Captains for the particular area of the neighborhood you would like to be responsible for.( preferably on the street or corner that you live. If we find that we have a lot of overlapping, we will make some kind of arrangements to make sure the enitre neighborhood is covered. We are going to have one more meeting in the nere future TBA. Please talk to your neighbors and try to get them to attend the next meeting. Participation is this project is KEY in order for this program to be successful. We are off to a great start and I think within a couple of months we will be up and running and ready to identify and report crime in our neighborhood. The next meeting is going to teach you more about the police department and the officers responding to our requests. It will discuss patrol operating procedures and reporting procedures so we will all be on the same page when we get started. We will also provide you with techniquies of observation and reporting so that when you take a walk or a bike ride around the neighborhood and you see something that you feel may be potential criminal activity or something that just does not look like it belongs in our neighborhood. They will teach you the right way to gather this information and report it immediately. We need more volunteers, so if you know anyone that is interested in getting involved with the crime watch, send a message or give one of your board members a call and we will make sure to get you in the loop. This is a great program that WILL reduce crime in our neighborhood and I'm happy to see that so many residents are interested in getting involved. We will keep you all informed of the next steps that need to be taken before we are up and running as a fully registered Crime Watch. Thanks for attending our first meeting. We are all looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting so we can get this program up and running. Thanks again for all of your time and effort. Your board will be in touch with all of you very soon.
