Ongoing Arsons

The ongoing arson issue needs to be discussed at our next neighborhood meeting in my opinion. We need to band together as a community and keep an open eye to everything - clearly the city of Indianapolis cannot catch the arsonists. I propose we try and start the neighborhood block watch program.

Neighborhood meeting June 14th

Police are inviting the public to a meeting tonight to talk about the recent string of arsons plaguing the Southside and Near Eastside.

The meeting is at the Southeast District police headquarters at 1150 S. Shelby St. at 5:30 p.m., said Capt. David Allender.
Authorities will ?“address concerns about the recent arson fires and pass on safety tips to the residents of the district,?” Allender said in a statement.

The most recent fire killed a woman in the 600 block of Cottage Avenue early Wednesday morning but was apparently not an arson, officials said.

However a blaze in the 300 block of Minnesota Street reported about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday was the 14th reported arson in the past three weeks in the area.

re. arson

Hi. I am the Website coordinator and I agree with this. I will send your idea to Russ and Mike to see if they can arrange someone from the city (police or fire dept.) to come to our meeting. Thanks for the suggestion.

Larry
thank you

Thanks Larry - we had to miss the June 14th meeting due to being out of town but we will be there on July 9th.
