I don't know why we even fixed the pool, because parents are just using it as a way to get their kids out of their hair without having to watch them. Since parents are not coming to the pool with their children they have repeatly used pool equipment as toys and have been irresponsible when it comes to the safty of themselves by diving off in the swallow end of the pool. I think that we need to make is so any one 18 years and older is allowed in the pool area anyone under 18 years must have their parent(s) with them. It is unfair to those of us who want to enjoy the pool, but can not because we are babysitting your children. Something must be done. Parents need to be responsible.

You're so right!
Whether it's trash containers being left out for many days or unattended kids at the pool, many issues here seem to boil down to folks failing to adhere to community standards. Unfortunately, there seems to be a prevailing atmosphere of apathy toward many issues here at FT. Moreover, the treasury balance (and income) isn't sufficient to hire a pool attendant, the strategy used at some condos to maintain a measure of control at the pool. Attendants can be called upon to insure that unauthorized people aren't using the pool and are frequently charged with maintaining correct water chemistry and cleaning the pool deck. This 'free baby-sitter' concept (which you pointed out) isn't confined to swimming pools. A friend who works at an inner-city public library frequently complains about parents who drop off kids for the day...while the parents go off to work for eight or nine hours. |
