One of the ways Brookside Neighborhood Association has take to make the Neighborhood better and safer is to issue letters to problem addresses stating the problem reported at the address the consquences of the problem and making a request for contact and meeting with the responsible parties to discuss methods of resolving the issues. For certain reasons if you have a problem address (noise violation, trash, high traffic, suspected drug use) it must be with in the area of Brookside Neighborhood Association, and the person reporting must give their name and a viable method of contact(see Neighborhood Problem letters page on web site home page). Anonymous Reports will be forwarded to the proper agencies but will not generate a letter from the Association. I would like everyone's opinion on this and also any other suggestions on things Brookside Neighborhood Association can be involved in or do to promote a better safer Neighborhood.

I think that this is a good idea with the exception of letters being sent out from the agency only if a person complaining identifies themselves. I feel that all people being a problem or danger to the community should be aware that they are being watched by there neighbors and that people are feeling concerned about the problems they are bringing into the community and if this complaint comes from the neighbor across the street or next door they should be able to do this anonymously especially if they feel safer by doing so.I am new to my home and to this neighborhood and I have noticed that this neighborhood has the potential to be a great place to live and a great investment but some of the property owners(specifically doubles)are neglecting the exterior upkeep of there properties and they are not being selective as to whom they are renting to.This in my opinion is what is harming the families who live in the community as well as the home owners investment in the community. These locations are the root of many problems and could be resolved, most like with the property owner of the problemed property being notified. They should understand that the community has an expectation of them, that even though they may not live at that adress they have an obligation to the community to keep the propery up and to rent it to persons who are not going to be a menace to their neighbors.

Necessary Legality

First, the letter sent is sent by the Neighborhood Association names of complainants are not used in the letter.

Second, as a Neighborhood Association we can only represent residents or property owners within the boundaries of the Association, against problems within the boundaries, so we must be able to verify both before issuing the letter.
