What This Site is About

Posted in: Oakforge Communities-Lakes - Woods
This is an open forum to discuss everyones concerns, likes, dislikes, opinions (good or bad), the key word here is open. While we would prefer not to be engaged in controversial language, unless it is profanity it is your option to use or not use it. If it makes your point then do what you must and we will let the web masters do what they are instructed to do. It is about involvement, get involved in your neighborhood, do whatever you can do to bring accord within our community. We have many issues we are confronting presently, the continued tagging of our neighborhood by a certain gang and the unsupervised children cutting through our neighborhood, hmm, you don't think that could be at all conected do you? My point is, if we have 177 homes all looking out for each other we can not lose. If you see somebody doing something they shouldn't, call the police or let someone else know. These are problems that can be fixed, if the unconcerned parent has to retrieve their child from the lockup several times, I believe they will get the message that we are not playing and they will either keep their children under control or their weekends will be filled with visits to facilities of incarceration. Come on, lets work together and make this the neighborhood we can all be proud of.

Good points

I have to say that I agree with your points JBD! Let's work together. I am proud of my home and we are going to be making our home a home for a new child. The neighbors that I have surrounding me are fantastic so I know that there are more people in this neighborhood that are just as great. We just need to stop being afraid of what might happen if we report activity. Instead lets stand together and make a step in the right direction.
To the person who wrote about the illegal activity in the house on Oakforge Lane. I hope that you did report what you saw since we are not on that side of the neighborhood.
We are a caring community and we can make a change that is positive. Keep posting things and sharing with your neighbors.
reporting crime to police

Yes, I agree. Any witnessed crimes need to be reported to the police. If criminals are successful with one house, they will come back to do the same thing to the rest of us. Let's stop the criminal activity with that first house!! Others can't report something they didn't see-only the witness can do that.

Now we are getting somewhere

Exactly, now we are getting somewhere. The whole thing is about getting involved, when you see something that shouldn't be happening, happen, then tell everybody you can, the police, your neighbor, the mailman. the board, the HOA, hell call your mother in Alaska and tell her. The point is the more information we share with each other the more of a chance we have of nipping any of the mal effects of living in this neighborhood before they become problems. I am very serious when I commit to contacting the parents of the children in our neighborhood about the unsupervised existence those children have been allowed this summer. If you don't want to control your child, then pick them up down at lockup night after night, at least the rest of us will know what they are up to then and feel secure in knowing that they are not disrespecting our properties. Again, the more police prescence we have in this neighborhood, the less chance we have of experiencing the same fates of some of the hoods that have fallen to gangs and absentee owners.
