What started off as a lesson in humility and heart has ended with cries of joy. IWII broke *all previous box office records* with our last show, THE CURIOUS SAVAGE, despite five -- shall we say -- "educational" reviews. (Which, while I pass it off as a little joke, is still very true.)
Closing weekend alone saw 90 patrons on Friday and another 76 Saturday. Friday night the company for the very first time turned people away. Saturday afternoon around 2:30, our Executive Director gave the word: Shut It Down. Close the box office, we're sold out. What a day that was for the company! There's always something new happening at IWII!
But now the props and costumes are put away (for the most part), and rehearsals are already in full swing for WORKING, our very first musical. The interest generated at Curious Savage should give Working a good start off, and once word gets out about this talented cast and crew, the roof of our little studio just might be blown off. In addition, for this show, we've managed to secure indoor rehearsal facilities, including use of a piano! THANK YOU to our landlord for all the help! (We'll name names in a future edition.)
And in closing, another big thank you to the folks who have emailed us or signed in on our message board (Brian and Nicole). Your words were more helpful and kind than you might realize, and we thank you very much. (NOTE TO READERS: In the future, IWII will provide a generic screen-name and password to make access to our message board easier for everyone.)
And a big Thank You to the cast and tiny crew of Curious Savage who never gave up on me or each other, and inspired us all. THANKS!!
~ Tom Leveen, Artistic Director
