Wow a funny thing happened to us that I just thought I should share with you all! Our home just sold and to our surprise a lein had been placed on it that we had to pay in order to be able to sell it! It appears that in April 2003 W & W lumber company sued Town and Country builders for some work they had done on our home which was not payed. There for a lein was placed? We did not even own our home until Jan 2004. We were informed that this should have been caught by our title company at our purchase? I think maybe everyone should check this out! How many of us did not know about this? We had to pay attorneys fees as well!

Lien

W & W Lumber put a lein on (I could be wrong with this number) 4 properties in Lantern Key. One of these consists of the clubhouse. I spoke to Independence Title and they told me that they would provide a letter stating that Town & Country placed a bond with them that would clear your title. I was told that the lien would ''disappear'' after a year (I heard this this summer) if no other court action was taken. I recall (I could be wrong) that W & W Lumber put the lien on whatever they could to try and get someone to pay for work that they thought they should be paid for. If you haven't paid this, you might want to give Ronald Platt of Independence Title a call and see what can be done.

Lein paid

Unfortunatly we had to pay this to sell our home! I just wanted to be out of Lantern Key and done with FL altogether so we paid it! I just wanted to let you all know so that if anyone was wanting to sell they might have a heads up! Thanks for your info though!
