Jamaica Hill Community Association

Community Message

Mar 31, 2009

Here what?’s been going on in the Neighborhood:

?• We have received additional funding from Councilman, James Gennaro for Captain Tilly Park, aka ?“Goosepond?” totaling 1.3 million. Once we hear back from the Parks Dept., we will have our Parks Committee start meeting with them to discuss what we the community wish.
?• We had the Unemployment Agency do a presentation in February and if anyone wants a package, please see us at our upcoming meeting on March 31st.
?• There were a group of young men that engaged in old fashion brawl with bats and rakes on 168th Place.
?• There have been a couple of robberies and break-ins in the community. 107 pct is aware of this.
?• Please do not forget to reach out to 311 for any assistance ?– since we cannot get anyone from Mayor Bloomberg?’s office to return calls or answer the needs of Jamaica Hill since Phil Goldfeder (he is now in Senator Chuck Schumer?’s office) left his office ?– just maybe we can have 311 do the community liaison?’s job and that will be one less paycheck the City will have to pay. I assume Bloomberg wants to run again so here is another message to you---HIRE SOMEONE THAT WILL GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THIS PART OF QUEENS.
Finally, I hope the politicians that do read any community newsletter, their staff, that is?…will take the time to read the section below to help Queens go a little greener.
With great fondness to all
Deborah Ayala,
President
