old Stores of W&.

Posted in: Wyandotte
Hmmmmm.....

Ray, your name sounds familiar, but I'm not sure if it's in connection with my brother(s). Did you ever post on any of the alumni sites (classmates.com or highschoolalumni.com)? I think that may be where I remember your name from. The twins aren't ringing a bell with me. Yes, I was VERY young then. Most of those I know were the neighborhood gang, and some other names are familiar from hearing my sister or other brother speaking of them.....did you know either of them too?
Robert Halls

ALSO..........

There was the sweet shop which started out on Oak St. and then moved to 10th. There was an older lady that helped out in there named Sadie. If any of the school students acted up during lunch time, you were out of there. I think the ladies name
who owned the place was Bernice.
What about Niemiec candy store across from Mt. Carmel grade school on 10th. There was another candy store Blasczaks on 10th. It was the building next to the empty lot across from Mt. Carmel church. There was also two clothing stores. Filipiaks on 10th and Wietels on Oak and 10th where Wyandotte Realty is now. There was a gas station on the corner of Cedar and 4th where the empty lot remains next to the new homes that are there. Also a candy store on the corner of Spruce and 4th. They had a soda fountain. Yes those were the good ole days.....Gone but not forgotten...... :-)
Thank you KT!!!!!!
