Please correct me if I am wrong, but when we were told about the fee going up, I thought they said it would go up $2.00 a month more. But when we got our payment book it when up to  $8.00 more a month. I have to wonder what is going on? Also I was wonder who decides how much the HOA fee are. Is this something that the board decides or should it be put up as a vote by the members (when the fees go up)?

I *believe* it is the board members.  What home owner would honestly pass to raise their rates, I doubt many would, so I believe it is up to the board to look at the financials and determine if we need additional funds, how much, etc.  If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me, but that is my understanding.  And really IMO $8 a month is reasonable.  Our rates are some of the lowest of the subdivisions in Queen Creek, at around $40 a month (well around $50 if it's gone up) I truly do not think that is such a horrible deal, especially when our trash service is included in that fee, the gardeners for the common areas, the lights (the ones we have anyway), water bill for the common area, only to name a small portion of what it goes for.
