Following the Agenda, the meeting began with Liz Hammer welcoming the group. Next on the Agenda was a recap of the Neighborhood Clean Up which was held on Saturday April 24, 2010. The group spoke of the rainy Saturday and the event still being a success! There were 40 people that worked that day and the neighborhood looked great, it was noted that we had the help of the Lighthouse Youth Center, the Lighthouse Block Watch, tenants, and residents in the neighborhood. The group was grateful for the tent that Ron supplied along with the food the KANDO landlords had for everyone that helped.
Next on the Agenda was a recap of the Landlord Breakfast which was held on Thursday April 22, 2010. The group spoke of the success of this event and it was noted that Court Commission Rosa Barillas, was a great guest. The landlords felt that she was open to suggestions and gave good advice. It was also noted that many of the landlords took advantage of building connections with the panel and other landlords. There was some discussion on the success the Havenwoods landlords are having with the connections they are making. Liz let the group know that there were eight new landlords that attended the event.
The final item on the Agenda was neighborhood issues and it was noted that there have been a rash of vandalism in the area between 75th and 77th Street from Mill Road to Good Hope. The landlords in that area have noticed that car windows are being broken, nothing is being taken – just the windows are being broken. The landlords are working directly with the police on this issue.
The meeting ended at 7:00pm with a note that the next KANDO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday June 8th at 6:00pm.
