Too...

The store on 12th and Eureka wasnt a fruit stand, it was a market store.

Sophie and Kayo, who were sisters owned it. Remember ''Barney'' the guy who used to deliver for them?

You could get a 16oz. pepsi and a big bag of chips for a quarter. Fourteen cents for the pop, a dime for the chips and a penny tax.

Helen at Kales mkt used to make the best sandwiches in the world.

I worked at party pantry for one day.
Jenny the owner, used to swear like a sailor at her workers.
She was a sweet person over the counter... but if you worked for her and you screwed up, LOOK OUT!!!

Remember the Watch hospital? My Mother and Father inlaw ownend that.

I used to fear Joe Deerer when I was a little kid, ( he hated kids) but he got to be a cool guy when I was a teenager.
I'd go in there and buy beer and he would have his coffee cup filled with beer and talk my ears off!!
Re: stores

Remember Green Front Market on 6th and Goddard? Chuck the owner would write what you owed him on a slip of paper and you could pay him at the end of the month! Who remembers the candy store at 5th and Goddard, near Taurences Market. Also if you needed boat parts you could go to Wysacks on 2nd and Goddard. Excuse me, I have to go to Emils Market(6th and Antoine) to get some ham and then run to Robert Halls to get a new coat. Ah, the memories!

Commander.....

I think the store by Woodruff was Olaf's. Do you remember an old man running it....he was German, I think.

Bobs bar...

Corner of 15th and eureka. Spent many a evening there in the 70's. I used to rent a room upstairs from Bob.

Ol' ''Skins'' was a wild man. I always used to tell him he was the Nastiest ''mofo'' I ever met. He would laugh like hell and agree with me.

Lotsa CRAZY times upstairs there too...

Jamestown was a nuthouse too. Lots of wild women though... made the nights enjoyable also!
